Since my research began I have been in contact with several veteran single-stick players including a former Royal Navy
commander who re-introduced the art back into the service. He still retains the title of World Singlestick & Cudgels Champion

Singlestick was the training weapon for broadsword and the
broadsword, dirk & targe. Singlestick or cudgelling matches became a popular
pastime throughout the whole of the British Isles, often they were held in village fairs and highland games...
We currently research and practice various styles of singlestick from
different time-periods, including instructions from a 1790 Scottish
Broadsword-singlestick manual entitled 'Antipugilism'.
